Out of the courtroom with a scattered heart

I’m not sure that what I did today was right.

Three years ago I was involved in a car accident, where I was hit by a car riding on my bike. Not hard or anything and neither I or the bike was hurt. The man who drove came out and said sorry. And he was sincerly sorry - it was obvious by the look in his eyes. We were lucky as the police had actually driven right behind me, so there was no doubt about what had happened and we didn’t have to sit around and wait for them to come. That’s the story and I thought that was it and would be the end of the story.

But no.

Today I was in the court and I was to tell my testimony as a witness. I told only what I’ve already shared with you about the accident but now I’m doubting wheter that was the right thing to do.

Sure, my testimony is true and I did not lie. I knew before I went in that the driver of the car was also in court for some other stuff. But when I got out I was told that these other things where vandalism - but only graphiti..

And now I’m scared that me not telling that I wore completly black clothes, having only small lights on my bike and music in my ears will make his conviction worse.

Would I have thought the same if I after the trial was told that he’d raped a girl, robbed an old lady or killed a man?

Would I then have been pleased that I didn’t tell about my black clothes and small lights?

And will it even matter what I said? - Does it really make a difference for the rest of the case?

At the same time I’m also thinking about the consequenses for me if I’d said that it was all my fault.

I also said “fuck” in the court, cause that was what crossed my mind just before the car hit me. Will that undermine my credibility?

Going to court sucks big time.

FUCK.

Smiling to another person. Talking to random people at the bus stop. And so on. Maybe that makes the day for someone :)
